Install guide

The right version. The right folder. Ready to launch.

    Check the Minecraft version

Open the client’s download page and note its Minecraft version. You need Minecraft: Java Edition on a computer — these jars do not work with Bedrock, phones or consoles. Back up your worlds and close Minecraft before continuing.

    Install the matching Fabric Loader

In the official Minecraft Launcher, run the required Minecraft version once, then close the game. Download and open the official Fabric installer, choose Client, select that same Minecraft version and the latest compatible Loader, keep Create profile checked and click Install.

Download the jar and required dependencies

Download your chosen client as a .jar file. Check its release instructions for dependencies. If it needs Fabric API, download the Fabric API release for the same Minecraft version. Do not extract the jars or double-click the client jar. Renaming a jar does not change its compatibility.

Put the jars in the right mods folder

Move the client jar and any required dependency jars from Downloads into the mods folder for your Fabric installation. Create the folder if it does not exist. Keep only one version of each mod. Start with one client to avoid conflicts.
    %appdata%\.minecraft\mods

Press Win + R, paste the path above and press Enter. If it is missing, open %appdata%\.minecraft and create a folder named mods.

Using Prism, Modrinth or a custom game directory? Open that instance’s folder instead. In the official launcher: Installations → your Fabric profile → Edit → More Options → Game Directory.

Launch Fabric and check the result

Open the launcher and select the Fabric Loader profile with the matching Minecraft version, then press Play. First test in a single-player world. Check Options → Controls → Key Binds for the client’s controls or follow its release instructions; there is no universal menu key.

Before joining a server, check its current rules — some client features may be prohibited.

Something not working?

The Fabric installer won't open+

On Windows, use the official .exe installer if available. The .jar installer needs Java; Minecraft 1.21.x uses Java 21. The official launcher normally manages Java for the game, but that does not automatically install Java for opening installer jars.

Incompatible mods / missing dependency+

Read the error screen: it names the required mod or version. Match Minecraft, Fabric Loader and Fabric API to the client's requirements. Forge and NeoForge mods do not load on Fabric.

The game crashes after adding a client+

Close the game, remove the new client and launch again. If that works, check its dependencies and compatibility, remove duplicate versions, and test it alone. Do not delete your worlds.

The game starts but the client is missing+

Make sure you launched Fabric, not vanilla, and used that profile's Game Directory. The file should end in .jar, not .jar.zip, and be directly inside mods, not in a subfolder.

Still stuck?+

Save the error text or latest.log from the installation's logs folder. Remove personal details before sharing it in Discord. Include the client name, Minecraft version and Fabric Loader version.
